    Wink ~~ InterMezzo ~~

    Hi all,

This piece started as an innocent little piano waltz.

It didn’t take long before the piece started whispering into my ear:
‘I want to be played by other instruments…’

    I said:
    ‘Oh, ok, why not…’
    And tried some other instruments.

But it didn’t take long before the whisper turned into a loud hiss:
    ‘I want Sssstringssss...!’

    I said:
    ‘Oh, great! I love strings...!’

And that’s how it became a strings miniature…

I tried, with the knowledge I acquired so far, to do my best to achieve a warm strings sound, soft, yet present.

I also practiced with pitchbend for the first time, more or less successfully.

I welcome any comments in general and on the sound in particular.

I had lots of fun in creating this miniature.

Now it’s your turn to enjoy it as well!

Very lovely, indeed. A "sweeping" string sound is always
a great enhancement for a waltz and I think you found it.

It was just a very enjoyable listen, Yudit. Think I'll go back
    for seconds..............lol

Very smooth, very enjoyable with an elegance of tone and a fine theme.

I would say you have succeeded 100% in creating that warm strings sound that you wanted.

    Very well done.

Nice, warm strings. Good control of dynamics. The bends weren't always quite believable, but considering you are just starting to use them! Heck, I think a lot of us (okay, at least me!) could learn from you on constructing nice-sounding string harmonies.

For a first time try out on the pitchbend, I agree you were very successful. I have never even tried!

Did you do the pitchbend via keyboard or by cc controller inside a DAW?

    Nicely done

Thumbs up Re: ~~ InterMezzo ~~

    Thank you, Yudit!
What a super romantic piece you have composed! Splendid!

For me, personally this was as passionate as the music in Hitchcock's "Vertigo!"
During some short moments, I associated your strings with early Schönberg and Mahler!

The end is a little bit like a soft romantic passage in a John Barry soundtrack.

    Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought Hitchcock-era strings right there at the beginning. I was thinking "Laura," myself. But I hate to keep saying "sounds like a movie" and besides it went, as you said, from there.

It sounded real nostalgic. Another time and place when life was simpler and more innocent. A nice effect with the strings.

When I listened to it again I was drawn to the bass strings and how well they supported the melody.

    A nice romantic interlude.

    Hi Jack,

'Sweeping' is indeed one of the qualities I wanted this piece to have.

At some point though, it didn't feel like a waltz any more. That's why I gave it another name...

Hope you enjoyed the seconds too...

Thanks for listening, commenting and your BRAVO.

    Yudit,

This is absolutely delightful music. So light and fluffy. Your control over the strings is wonderful. I have to admit that on first listen, the pitch bend sounded a tiny bit odd, but I guess it adds to the delight of the little walz.

    Fantastic work. Thank you.
