    Texas......Look Out!

As I watch the news on TV and on the Web, I feel very strongly
that Hurricane "Ike" will do a lot of damage. Maybe only a category "3"
but to hit such a populated area as Houston, Texas, it's got to be
    catastrophic.

My prayers and deep concern for all people in the Houston, Texas
area and all along the Gulf coast. Please know we are thinking of
you and hope that your greatest damage will be the inconvenience
of the storm and not that it will put you in harms way.......

Worse than Houston will be Galveston Island where they're expecting a wall of water 16-18' high, and worse yet, Beaumont and Port Arthur where the storm surge is estimated to reach as high as 25'. Really, anywhere from Galveston on east is about to get slammed. This storm is roughly 240 miles wide.

Ike's projected path takes him directly over where I live in East Texas. Local weather forecasters predict winds of up to seventy miles-per-hour and more than six inches of rain for us. Blub...blub...

I join you in that prayer, Jack. May the most powerful force in the universe, make Ike settle down some, and keep everyone safe.

They said this is expected to the biggest to hit Texas in fifty years. I think they mean size, not strength.

But maybe they mean range? When i lived on the East Coast, it was common practice to just go inland about 100 miles or so, but with them predicting it will bring heavy storms, high winds and possible tornados, all the way up to mine and Larry's neighborhood, wow!

I wonder if that has led to reduced evacuation since it would be such a long drive.

Stay safe everyone, i believe God will keep us under his wing.

    Prayers for your Dad, Ern.

Remember that pic you posted of the car... Dan must have been right, today there was a Grand Prix in front of me on the freeway, and it had a third light in the middle exactly like the pic, a little lower than the outer tail-lights.

Don't know what year, it looked like a few years old, not brand new.

I'm too cantankerous to croak, Mr. Gary.

We had some pretty rough weather as hurricane Ike passed through with strong winds and a lot of rain. The situation is much better now.

Thanks for checking on me. Appreciate it, my friend.

    My best,

    Larry
