I'm a bit proud because I think its my best library so far.
Its a 14 GB collection of 17 solo brass and sax instruments & 10 section combinations,
perfect for Pop, Jazz, Funk & Big-Band.
The sound of the sections is much better than I expected.
Maybe thats because I tried a new way to record samples:
For CHH Vol.2 I got some of the best brass & say player in germany,
all from the famous, grammy winning WDR-Bigband.
Usually each player plays his notes in different articulation and dynamics independent from anything else.
You may know how it sounds when you try to built a section out of instruments coming from different libraries.
So, this is how I tried to capture the best section-sound for CHH Vol.2:
First I recorded Andy Haderer, first trumpeter and professor at the cologne univerity of music.
All other players heard Andys track while playing their track.
This way, not only all falls, crescendo and stuff have the same length,
also, the overall sound of the section-sustains sound much more realistic
because each player designed his tone to match the other perfectly,
like they are used to when playing with the WDR-Bigband.
The result is a section with much more power
CHH Vol.2 is very flexible
The best way to build a large section is to use all the solo instruments
and arrange every single track, separately.
In ECO-Mode, all 17 instruments should fit into one computer plus more.
My 8-core Quad Mac loads all full versions without a problem.
But if you want to save time and say, the trombones play unison anyway,
then a mix of solo-instruments and section might be the best way.
Section and solo instruments match perfectly together because the sections
are carefully mixed out of the single samples of the solo-instruments.
I dragged all 30.000 sample into a timeline in Logic and spent a lot of time
to find the perfect mix for each group of instruments.
CHH Vol.2 includes the latest Kontakt-Player 2.2.5
The elaborate interface has 72 edit-features available through 11 pages
(One of eleven edit pages, the micro-tuner)
If you know my libraries, you know there are tons of features to shape
the sound and special programming to enable a good playability.
The instruments in CHH Vol.2 have a very complex legato system.
The glide-mode enables to play realistic runs that work through all
instruments when combing a section.
We rebuild the whole key-switch concept to provide completely customizable
key-switch presets rather than just use the KS to switch between articulations.
This Videos explain some of the main features.
Key-Vibrato is a new way to perform a custom vibrato on the keyboard-key
Hot-Keys are special repetition keys to avoid the machine gun effect.
Hot-Keys can also be used to perform special articulations like falls and doits on the fly.
In addition to the regular effect section like reverb, delay, chorus, flanger,
phaser, compressor, 3-band EQ and filter, 21 high-end convolutions, created
for sax & brass instruments by Sonic-Lab, the maker of "Halls of fame" are
