Thumbs up Announcing the Piano Competition Winners

I am pleased to announce the winners for Jack's (Rhap2) Piano Competition. It was a fun contest and there were 19 people who entered - many of them excellent!

Listed below is the GRAND PRIZE winner and the two runners-up.

GRAND PRIZE: Paul Robbins for "Wall Street Hoedown"
(This entry was so unique, it broke a 3-way tie)

RUNNERS-UP: Louis Dekker (LouisD) for "Theme and Variations"
Anousone Kitisa for "Waltz" (in the style of Chopin)

Paul Robbins will receive an Authorized Steinway Professional library and Lous Dekker and Anousone Kitisa will receive a Basic version of the Authorized Steinway library. We're looking forward to hearing their entries re-rendered with the Steinway library.

Jack Cannon was a "Listener Award" winner for his helpful comments and attentiveness in the Listening Room. Jack already owned the library so he graciously offered his library to a worthy person "not able to purchase the Steinway for one reason or another, but would love to have one"
So Jack started a contest, posted it on the forum and dedicated his Garritan Authorized Steinway Piano to the winner of a "private" piano solo composition contest.

What a great idea! Jack was so generous and gracious and he let others share in his fortune. We need more people in the world like Jack.

Thanks so much Jack for doing this. Thanks to all those who entered and congratulations to the winners! Lets do this again some time.

    All the best,

    Gary Garritan

Congratulations to Paul, Louis and Anousone! I hope to be able to hear each of these pieces soon. "Wall Street Hoedown" sounds like an entry for the Halloween contest!

Thanks again to Jack and Gary for making this possible!

Re: Announcing the Piano Competition Winners

    To All who entered:

It was a pleasure to hear the many, varied Piano Composition Contest
entries. The 3-minute limitation posed a special restriction as far as
composing anything was concerned, but its intention was to provide an
additional challenge for the composer. The winners overcame this
obstacle with careful planning and, much to my surprise, forwarded
very meaningful piano pieces. I hope the winners will submit their
entries using their new Steinway libraries. I can guarantee all
    listeners will be surprised.

We must always remember too, that all of this would not have been
possible without the gracious generosity of Gary Garritan. His support
of music students and professionals throughout the world is unparalled
and I don't have to prove that to anyone familiar with this Forum. Thank
you Gary for your leadership, motivation and for creating sample music
libraries that do so much to advance education in the field of music

Again, it was a real pleasure for me to hear the music created for
this contest and I congratulate everyone who entered.
For our winners, special kudos for preparing awesome piano solos.
    Good luck to all.
