Brahms Clarinet Quintet - 2nd movement

    Hi All,

This uses all GPO (Clarinet and solo strings KS).

    I hope you like it.

I never would have guessed that this was a Brahm's piece. It just seems so different than what I normally think of when thinking of his works.

The piece is put together very well and the rendering sounds great.

    Well done

I agree with rolifer, this piece is well done. Is this only in a notation program or did you work this in a sequencer? Whatever, it is put together quite well.

    Hi Ron and Rich,

Thanks for listening, and for your comments.

Brahms had an affinity for Hungarian 'gypsy' music, and I think he had that in mind when he composed the middle section of this music.

I used a sequencer - it's actually my own program, where all the data is entered via the computer keyboard - notes, tempo changes, controller changes. I created the 'dry' .wav file using Garritan Studio. Then I added reverb using Cool Edit Pro (that's now an Adobe program).

    Best Regards,

    Jack

I like the way it sounds. Very romantic and sentimental, almost pastoral. The clarinets and violin are well balanced and the solos sounds nice too.

Brahms is such a very busy composer, and I love his stuff. This sounds very nice to me. Thanks for posting.

    Hi Victor and Jay,

Thanks for listening, and for your comments.

I enjoyed working on this piece, as I used to play the clarinet at one time.

    Best Regards,

    Jack

This was nice. I think Brahms music has aged well.

This has almost an eerie feel to it. Sort of dark pastoral.

    Hi Phil,

    Thanks for dropping by.

I think 'dark pastoral' is a good way of describing it. Lyrical, and yet very intense.
