Thanks, Ted. As I said earlier, this little piece was
brought to mind by a concept in physics involving
an almost mystical connection between particles
at any distance from each other... but the metaphor
for many human relationships was an obvious fit.

As you musically captured with your composition, being entangled is like being caught in a sticky web, (seemingly) unable to escape. Actually, I would say that, for me, this piece captures the acceptance or (better yet) "complete resignation" of being entangled in a situation where no escape is to be found (at the moment). I say this because it seems that when most people find themselves initially entangled in a situation, there's a sense of panic and heightened anxiety. This piece seems to represent a more "resigned" feeling with the uncomfortableness of being entangled, minus that initial panic and heightened anxiety.
Entanglement isn't necessarily a bad thing... lol --
sometimes it's best just to ride with it. Too much
struggle just wraps the web tighter.

There are many, many things that I sincerely admire about your works, David. One of them is your ability to musically represent the title of the "story". To my ears, your music faithfully tells the story as initially presented by the title.
Generally with these little color pieces (not always) I start
with a firm concept in mind, well defined subject matter. The
fit to the subject will usually just follow naturally enough
if that's what you're thinking about while writing.

(Now. . . this is the complete opposite of what I do for my music and titles! LOL! I would be completely happy with titling each composition "Composition #1", Composition #2, etc., etc. . . LOL! )
It depends where you're going with a piece, Ted.
Some pieces, one's following a given idea... but
others are explorations of themselves, vehicles we
use to delve into a certain as yet undefined area.

As a listener, I enjoyed hearing the story that you told. This time, it's a very focused story about the experience of being caught in some uncompromising situation where there seems to be no escape. I always enjoy listening to your compositional stories. As a "student in composition", I am left with much more knowledge in how music can be cleverly created and orchestrated to represent a very specific mood or emotional reality. Such learning is precious, David.
Comments like that do my heart good, Ted. If you
walk away from a piece with something you didn't
have before, then I've been doing my job.

THANK YOU for sharing your music. I followed the listening while reading your pdf score. Very cool!

Warm regards to you and your family. . . I mean it literally, too! This is crazy, crazy weather that we're having in the north east!

    Peace. . .
A little late on my part, but likewise, my friend, all good
things going forward into this New Year!

    Ted

(By the way. . . from a purely philosophical point of view, I sincerely believe that one can find his/her way out of most entanglement-type situations given the proper time, appropriate choices and support. I guess I'm just a hopeful kind of person. . . LOL!)
With that, I agree completely, Ted -- there's always an
    upward path!

Many thanks for listening and for taking so much thought
    with this little piece!

    All my best,

    David

Many thanks for the kind words, Del -- and great to
have you back around. I hope we'll see you here more
    often, my friend!

    It's great to have you back around the forum more, Randy;
we've missed you! This certainly has been quite your season
of late -- and it does my heart good to see a man of your
ability and dedication really hitting his stride. Many heartfelt
    congratulations, my friend!

For some reason I was thinking I'd need a Bigger window of opportunity than I actually did - Only 4:00 or so, and now I've joined the throngs who have heard the latest Et Lux production. Why was I thinking Et Lux pieces are going to be much longer than they actually are--? I have the answer--because they're so jam-packed with ideas, more than most pieces, that in memory one can think they simply Must've been longer than they actually are.
With newer ideas, I generally run them up on several small
pieces like this, to get the hang of working with them... and
one of my thoughts of late goes exactly to what you mention,
Randy: I've perhaps pushed onward too far into complexity
in more recent pieces, and need to bring more simplicity back
    to the writing.

And now I can see some very appropriate feedback has already been posted here on the thread--sounds which are alternating between lush and spare, it's another unpredictable and thoroughly enjoyable listening experience, once again impecably produced.
Many thanks, Randy. This little excursion even strikes me
as a bit odd, though, as I grow accustomed to it: It alternately
strikes me as delicately interesting and very boring... rofl!

    Goldsmith had an almost magical touch with this sort of thing;
but I don't think I've quite found the handles of it yet.

And also once again, I know I'm the richer for having listened.

And I'll be back to listen again, how could one Not return?

THANK YOU, David for such marvelous music. You've unleashed another great gift to everyone fortunate enough to discover "Entanglement."

    Randy B.
Lavish praise for so small a morsel, my friend; but you've
always been overly generous toward me.

    All the best,

    David

good word. This was a first run with some new thinking,
and I believe I got in the ballpark with it -- by the
next one, I should get it right... lol.

Thanks for the kind intent, my friend; I'm pleased
    you enjoyed this little piece.

I appreciate your sharing this with us, also the score. That helps me enormously.
Good good! You know, it's surprising how many people
take time to read the posted scores. (I have tracking
on the website that keeps count of score downloads.)
Not that I'm necessarily the best choice for score
    study... lol.

    Hi Karen,

Many thanks for listening, my friend. I think calling this
little effort "brilliant" is perhaps extravagant (not that
I mind, of course... lol) -- but do I hope some of the ideas
and techniques provide food for thought.

I wrote - but you never knew it - that I keep coming back to this great piece of music. Together with the score it is double enjoyement for me, because I always like to read the notes while listening. To say: I am entangled by this piece.
