Silent Night ~ Arranged,Preformed and Mixed & Mastered by Hippie

I still have some tweaking to do on the mixing board (48 tracks) and then the final mastering but this is close............................kind of. LOL

As you can tell, I love a big sound.

PS....This time there are NO big rock drums, bass guitar or any guitars for that fact, just a synth, organ and a lot of GPO.

Big sound, indeed! And a great deal of depth,
plus a bottom that goes under it all like a latent
earthquake -- sounds great on the JBL's!

Too late this year for the Garritan Christmas CD,
but I'm sure this would be a candidate for next
    year's!

    Best,

    Thanks David.

As a bass player you know there is going to be some bottom in my tracks.

I had 3 Cellos playing as low as they would go and then put a bass synth under them.

Your link takes one to a site where the "Play" function does not work.

Please set up your music so that it will "stream" from the website. That is the standard way of doing it on this forum.

I can't speak for everyone but I would think that most people don't wish to download a file that is almost ten megabytes in size.

    Hi Larry,

There seems to be a problem with the site or what ever.

What I do with the others that are posted here that use that site is hit download and when it asks you save or open I hit open and then it plays.

Someday when I have the time I might set up a web site for my sound studio.

    ________________________ edit ________________________________

I just finished a year long project, mixing, mastering and adding the synthesizers, drums and orchestra to a clients tracks for his CD. I am now starting a new project. What little time I have I spend with my youngest son, playing games, reading and teaching him how to play piano and engineer sound (not setting up a web site). He loves the music I do and even corrects me on some levels of tracks and notes. He is autistic, not severe but enough. He can't tell you a lot about music but he will tell you right up front when you did it wrong, (he told one guitar player he sucked, and he was right...I fired the guitar player)....he will also tell you when it is right. He is now my second set of ears.

The site I have my music on was recommended to me by some of the members here so it is what I use.

I liked that big sound using the synths.

Is this all digital or are you using analog also.

    I use to have a Juno 60.

    Very Nice!
The recording you have created sounds close to a huge church organ!
It's easy to envision the stained glass windows lit by candle light.
A wonderful Christmas song revisited by a very talented musician.
    Well done,
    Thanks for sharing this ...

    Thanks Phil,

It is all digital and analog. I used my Yamaha So8 for the synth and as the controller for GPO. My sound card is a Creative X-Fi Fatal 1TY, I can plug everything into it (including my guitars) and record. I record GPO in stand alone using 2 computers. I put the tracks I am playing to on #1 computer and set the sound card on the other to "Record What You Hear", I hit play on #1 and record on #2 at the same time and go for it. Minor editing follows after I am done. LOL

I was using Cubase but it got a glitch and I was to lazy to figure it out or reload it so I started doing GPO in stand alone....Plus I like the feel of a live recording, it gives me more room to work. If everything played at the same time /dead on it would not have that human touch/feel/warmth. Each track is recorded dry, one at a time and effected on the mixing board, do a mix down and test master to make sure it works. If I am doing 48 tracks this is done 48 times. (It gets me out of doing house work)

After all that is done I do a final master of the track......and if it sound right I have another beer (the good stuff this time) and pat myself on the back. ....

........then I have to do some house work.

    Thank you Michael.

The organ track is off my Yamaha and then I effected it with a ton on the mixing board, then blended it with the synth and orchestra.
