    Garritan String Quartet Christmas tune

    Jesu Parvule
I used two Stradivari solo violins, the Gofriller solo cello and one GPO solo viola.

This is my arrangement based around an a cappella vocal arrangement by the late Gene Puerling.
He originally arranged this for the Singers Unlimited.

Gene Puerling is my vocal arranger musical hero. I will miss him.

I might have posted this in the past sometime, but I couldn't find it,
    so Merry Christmas!

    Dan

    lyrics....

    Jesu par-vu-le
    on Thy couch of hay.
    Greet we Thee today,
    sweet Son of Mary.
    Be Thy slumber deep
    while fair angels keep
    vigil o'er Thy sleep,
    blest Babe of Mary.

Dan... Such music must come from a vivid soul. So beautiful, I loved this piece.
And very good use of the Garritan libraries. This sounds fantastic.
    Thank you.

    Dan,

As always, you show how wonderfully the Garritan instruments can sound: youu truly have the art and the science! Beautiful piece, and so sensitively rendered.

    Thanks for that holiday treat.

This is a beautiful piece, Dan. Your talent in arranging and rendering this composition shows the reverence and respect you hold to your musical hero, Mr. Puerling. What a beautiful tribute. And, what a generous gift to share to this community.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Dan!

What a masterful use of these instruments to create one of the most beautiful and moving pieces I have heard in a long time!

    Thanks for posting this.

Nice one, Mr. Dan! You have been one of my favorite musicians since I joined this group and this affirms that fact.

I was not aware that Gene Puerling was no longer living. I enjoy and appreciate his work also, especially his arrangements for the jazz vocal group The Hi-Lo's. What a sound!

    Thanks for posting. Good job!

All of your comments make me feel so good.

What a treasure this place is, that we can post something we do and
collect such warm feelings through it.

I just finished watching David Foster's "Hit Man" on DVD,
he is my "other" musical hero.

Here is the Singers Unlimited under the direction of Gene Puerling.
This is the tune I tried to copy, it's kinda hard to do without lyrics though

    Larry,
even though I believe there are only two of The Hi-Los left, the Hi-Los are STILL ahead of their time.
Gene past away this spring I believe. An interesting side note: Gene had no formal music training.

    Thank you everyone!!!

    Very nice Dan,

You completely captured the heart and soul of the original vocal arrangement.
