A bit of cinematic nonsense, with a logic environment

    http://www.samgreene.com/files/TheJudgementFull.mp3

I spent yesterday building a logic environment that splits the keyboard into 3 sections and has a few toggles to do octaves and activate brass and timpani hits. I've got the toggles mapped to a midi foot controller and the brass levels mapped to volume pedals.

The strings and brass were created from the aggressive multis, but then modified a bit - changing ports for my needs and getting rid of most of the keyswitched stuff.

It's pretty epic!! The strings are cranking away at ~90 poly and brass at 18 at the end.

The strings/brass were played in a one take manner.

All the melodic instruments are GPO. Most percussion is true strike tension.

I've been enjoying listening to you talented folks here. Thought I'd drop something - I'm a little excited about it

And if anyone wants the environment - which could be imported into logic 8, I'll probably be making it available after a little clean up and a small readme.txt authoring.

Off to a fine start with this, Sam; you're getting some
solid sound -- and there's a lot of strong source material
    in this.

    Welcome aboard!

Thanks alot! I haven't used the library - apart from the piano, which is a staple - in a while. It's so tedious playing each instrument one by one. So I'm after making it a bit more playable, for bashing out ideas. Of course it doesn't sound as good as a refined programming job...but I grow weary of that type of thing

My former work with garritan is here.
Specifically the 'On the Verge' and 'Machinal' medleys.

You have some good ideas here and they are worth developing.

Are you saying you play it in all at once with a split keyboard?

    Welcome!

Welcome to the forum, Sam! You are off to a great start with this piece.
It is amazing to me that you can juggle all this at once. Good work, it will be interesting to see how this develops. John

Thanks to all for the listen

    >>Are you saying you play it in all at once with a split keyboard?

Yes, exactly. Several port manipulations are also used to direct the split to the correct instruments in the Kontact Player Multi.

The strings and brass are 'live' - put down in one take.

I played the percussion, woodwinds and piano separately.

Here's a little video peek at the environment patch working:

Reminds me of an old Schwarzenegger/Stallone movie from the '80s. Good heroic energy and suspense.

Ahhh! That's great! I personally favor the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack - probably my favorite movie soundtrack.
