Sync problem between logic and video!!

    Hi,

Here's the story: I'm working on scoring a scene with logic 8. I extracted the audio from the video and put it in logic, but it doesn't match the audio from the video (about 1 sec difference) despite the TC matching! The frame rate is not the issue, I know it's 29.97. Sync mode is set to internal. What's the deal?
    How can I fix that?

    Thanks!

    "despite the TC matching!"

    Matching? What's matching to what?

What sample rate is the audio in the video file? What sample rate did you extract it as? How did you extract it? What is your project sample rate? What is your project frame rate? How was the video made? Is it a hard 1 sec out of sync, or is it drifting?

-The TC of logic matches the TC in the video, that's what I meant.

-The sample rates of all the audios involved here is 44.1

-The way I extracted the audio was putting it directly into logic,it asked me if I wanted to extract the audio and video, I just extracted the audio and imported the video though logic.

-all I know about the film is it was made at 29.97ND NTSC

-my frame rate setting is 29.97

-it's a clear out of sync issue, not like an echo.

Ok, your audio can still be in sync or not - audio sync has nothing to do with the vid TC matching the project TC

-The sample rates of all the audios involved here is 44.1

And you are sure that Logic and your audio card are both set to 441?

-The way I extracted the audio was putting it directly into logic,it asked me if I wanted to extract the audio and video, I just extracted the audio and imported the video though logic.

Not sure how this works, but you make it sound like Logic can extract the video. Where does it extract the video from, and what does it do with it? Does it extract the video from the video?

-my frame rate setting is 29.97

    You sure it is NDF?

--it's a clear out of sync issue, not like an echo.

Rightm, but as I asked - Is it a hard 1 sec out of sync, or is it drifting?

No not sure it's NDF, the guy said I believe it's NDF. I don't even know what NDF is!

But I got it to work properly, it seems after extracting the audio too many times I must of confused logic or something because later on when I re opened logic and extract it again it was fine! Except the video and logic don't have the same TC anymore, so if you have any tips on that.... What I try won't stick.

Regarding extracting audio/video, on an audio track you could drop the quicktime straight there and it will ask you if you want to extract audio? video? I usually do it your way, but this time I didn't have a separate VO track
so I extracted it like that.

    Thanks!

sent you an email couple days ago guy. I'm confused as to why an offset in smpte contols doesn't work. Maybe your missing a codec?
