    Cool Mémoires de l’Égypte

    Mémoires de l’Égypte - 4:14 min - GPO only
Some years later the old French general lies on his deathbed in his home at Avenue Wagram, central Paris. A young maid takes care of him.
When she gives him a glass of water, he gets a flashback that takes him back to the days when he was part of the famous Egypt expedition.
One of Napoleon's scientists discovered how to decipher the hyroglyphs. "Yes! Those were the days!" He says to the young woman, who gets more and more excited by the pictures that the old general fills her young mind with. Then he adds: "One time, we all even had to learn how to ride camels!" He points at a painting standing on a tripod on the right side of his bed. Suddenly his eyes become cold and his head falls on the side. The old general is dead! The maid cries throughout the night, remembering each word that he had spoken.

My gosh, Fredrik, you do seem to have an endless
ability to engage the listener in ongoing epics of
cinematic proportions! I do hope some film maker
    snaps you up.

Again, material very well set to the "scene", with
its almost Impressionistic remembrance brought out
    in musical collage.

    Best,

    Thanks again, David!

After having written the story, I did the picture collage and the music!

Your music certainly is evocative of the scene you describe. Well done!

Another great cinematic experience Fred. Too bad you weren't around during the golden age of movies. Your music may have postponed the talkies for a few years.

    A real nice presentation.
