What Are Your New Years Resolutions?

A Very Happy New Year again!

As we are sailing into 2009, many of us honor the tradition of making New Year's resolutions. We try our best to keep them. To remember our resolutions and to follow through, let's post some of them to remember.

Here are some of my resolutions for 2009:

    • Bring out more terrific products to help you make music.
    • In light of the economy the way it is, make it easier for musicians and try to help people. To reach out to people who can't afford libraries and enable as many musicians as possible.
    • Be transparent as possible and continue to keep you informed of what we are doing.
    • Focus on innovating.
    • Avoid mentioning release dates in light of Murphy's Law always operational.
    • Do more fun things like competitions, contests, Go-Round Extravaganzas, Call Gary days, etc.
    • Devote more time to this community and to listen to more music in the Listening Room.
    • Take better advantage of the tools I have and get to know and utilize them better.
    • Compose some music and learn breakdancing.
    • Change my wardrobe.

Well, no resolutions, but some hopes/expectations. I hope to get more comfortable driving my Ford BMF. I expect to return to my earlier habits, and read as much as I used to. I plan to write plenty more music. And I would like to spend more time and effort at piano practice & playing!!!

In my life, I made New Years resolutions twice, 1960, and 1974. I was able to keep them. But I shall not relate them for fear of not being misunderstood.

Well, I've really quit making resolutions. At my age I don't need the pressure. Hehehe. But...I do plan to try and learn how to use Finale effectively during the coming year. I know the basics but I want to become proficient with it. I have a friend who has written a collection of original hymns that I would like to score for him. So, that's the plan.

Oh yes, not a resolution but a commitment to buying the Aria based libraries as soon as they are available.

Might sound a little corny to some, but I settled on Spiritual Growth.

    SNOR'S RESOLUTIONS FOR A HAPPY 2009:

    1. Not drive behind semis so their tires don't fly through my windshield.

    2. Plug things up sooner in the basement if another flood hits.

    3. Cut stuff out of my foot (or anywhere else) myself before it gets too big & a doctor has to do it.

    4. Learn to play my EWI USB using the EWI fingerings, not the valves.

    5. Declare a "hardware/software moratorium" until I am better at using what I already have. (Exception: ARIA-based libs)

    6. Meet a few more forum members in person...who'll be at NAMM?

    7. Make more music and post it...without fearing the consequences.

    ================================================== ===

Having said all that...the last time I made the statement "I have some slack time coming up and should have some more time for computer music" was two days before the flood hit.

No resolutions, but some definite goals:

    1. Finish the five songs I'm currently "in progress" on my current project before I start any new tracks.

    2. Post said music in the Listening room.

    3. Stick to my diabetes diet and lose the weight my doctor says I must.

    4. Stop spending so much time on the interent and actually make some music!

Resolutions: None. Only buying the new developments of Gary.
Hopes: that my eyes don't deteriorate as fast as the do now and still being able to read and write the notes.

    1. Be kinder to liberals...if possible. (If not possible...start rumors about them.)

    2. Change my underwear

    3. Learn how to write music. Alternatively, learn how to play bagpipes.

    4. Exhibit more patience in my everyday life and do it right now!

    5. Put my dirty clothes out in the rain to take care of the laundry problem.

    6. Help little, old ladies across the street whether they want to go or not.

    7. Investigate the merits of snuff.

    8. Convert my unused chess pieces and board into a checkers setup.

    9. Be a kinder/gentler/more hawkish conservative.

That would be inside out. Forwards to backwards makes things a bit inconvenient.
