That's some of the best advice possible, Paul -- listen,I was told to listen to everything I could get my grubby little hands on...so that the influence would seep into me and come out in my writing. That being said...do not be surprised if your influence is heard.
listen, listen to everything and anything, whether you
love it, hate it, can't understand it, would rather eat
turnips than listen to it -- preferrably with the score in
your hand.
