A recent visit to a possible Masters program gave me the advice to seek out Modern composers to listen to...you rank at the top of my favorites...I should point your work out to the head of the program. See what he thinks of that! LOL

The poor fellow will probably run screaming off toward
the horizon, holding his damaged ears... rofl! But I do
thank you for the complimentary regard, Paul.

I was told to listen to everything I could get my grubby little hands on...so that the influence would seep into me and come out in my writing. That being said...do not be surprised if your influence is heard.

That's some of the best advice possible, Paul -- listen,
listen, listen to everything and anything, whether you
love it, hate it, can't understand it, would rather eat
turnips than listen to it -- preferrably with the score in
your hand.

I figured that I should warn you...of course, no one would let me get away with ripping you off on here! LOL

I know that's a joking comment, Paul; but seriously,
all of us learn by emulating the work of others, and
then building upon what we discover in doing so.

Again...as always, your work is haunting, beautiful, and an inspiration to us all.

I appreciate the kind words, my friend. Keep that

Hiya David!

Been awhile since i've been able to make it by any forums due to work. But i was very happy to finally be able to, and this was the first place i came to. AaaNYwho...

I love this piece for it's shear simplicity as well as its discord. Or should i say, discHord? hehe I'm also a VERY big fan of this type of chordal landscaping.

I also like the piece for another reason... it reminds me very much of my favorite guitar player of all time, Allan Holdsworth. He's a pioneer in the evolution of the guitar in the 20th century. No one has even come close to taking it where he has in his long career. For anyone not familiar with him, and who wants to hear music similar to David's piece here but done using the electric guitar, google Allan Holdsworth.

Again David, this is a very nice piece. Has a lot of heart'n'soul.

PS: You've inspired me to dig up my own take on this style (recorded a long time ago on guitar) and convert it to a small ensemble. Thank you!
