You may remember the orchestral trumpet samples we\'ve recorded almost 6 months ago: 3-player trumpet section, with a posted forum demo of the Chicken Run theme...
This project has been on hold for a while (with the test samples in hypersleep on my hd) but has now been picked up again.
This is what\'s going to happen:
The trumpet samples we\'ve now finished will be downloadable for free. These are the samples from the TEST-research session. We did a lot of processing and tried to fix the two main problems (tuning and scoops) as best as we could. In our opinion, the sampled performances by the players from these tests aren\'t good enough for commercial distribution, but are still very useful! To us, the test has served its purpose and we will start planning for final sessions with better players (see horns below). http://www2.hku.nl/~maarte2/sampatch is the download site. Download the rar files by choosing \"Save target as...\" then change the .htm extension into the RAR extension, either being .rar .r00 or .r01. Go put them samples to use!
The patch layout:
Trumpet Main, keyswitches:
- C Long note 1 (2 vel. zones)
- C# Long note 2 (2 vel. zones, alternative)
- D Portato 1 (2 vel. zones, 1.5 secs)
- D# Portato 2 (2 vel. zones, 1.5 secs, hard attack)
- E Portato 3 (2 vel. zones, 0.8 secs)
- F Staccato (2 vel. zones)
- F# Staccatissimo (2 vel. zones)
Trumpet SFX: some trumpet fx and clusters.
UPCOMING FRENCH HORNS
For the trumpet test samples we used some of the theories and issues from
the brass \"manifesto\", posted earlier on this forum.
We\'ve decided to leave these test samples as they are, and turn our
attention to the sampling of the french horns section instead, for our final
recording session. We think new french horn samples will be more useful than
Pre-production will start now. Recordings will take place in March.
Hope this information is helpful.

Very nice gesture, I guess you\'ll get a lot of downloads! Maybe you want to measure this (logfile on the webserver) as an indication of how badly everyone\'s hoping for that holy grail stuff...
Btw, saw your new website today. Very nice and effective!
RE the horn section: are you considering to make different selections or splits (e.g. 2 + 4)? I mean 4 horns unison is a marvelous sound, but IMHO you shouldn\'t use them to create or play 3 or 4 note chords.
I realize that this topic is a kind of jungle... and maybe it\'s not really relevant with respect to just having a new, great set of instruments.
Thank you for this generous gift to the GS community. I\'m downloading at the moment, it is still quite slow (but I don\'t know how many other DLs are taking place, and you ARE in a long way from California
