    Piano, Violin, Cello Trio

I recently saw a young female piano, violin, cello trio perform and they were excellent and cute too. So I've come up with some music for those instruments. It has three parts to it.

    G. Steinway, GPO Solo Violin, GPO Solo Cello

    Trio

Are you using Strad or just GPO. The piano sounds likeSteinway too.I can't really tell. I can say that this isn't really my favorite style of music, I'm not much for violins and pianos playing together except in a full orchestra setup. But from a strictly compositional standpoint, you do very well with chords, and color. You have excellent taste with nuances and transition. You sound as if your in emotional pain as it has a lot of minor texture in the second part. I can almost see someone crying.

Hi Phil, I enjoyed your trio, you made a nice contrast between the sections which worked nicely. I couldn't help but think you could write a nice pop tune or maybe something for the stage. Your work often seems very melodic and memorable. I liked the harmonic lines you gave the cello in the second part too. Thanks for sharing. John

I'm just using the GPO strings and the Garritan Steinway on this.

Thanks much, just trying to make something with a basic idea.

You sound as if your in emotional pain as it has a lot of minor texture in the second part. I can almost see someone crying.
I did try to convey not so much sadness but a longing for someone but I can understand your interpretation.

I have tried pop song writing but I'm not great with pop song lyrics. I usually do work with a basic melody and add to it unless I'm doing something atonal.

I appreciate your listening and posting.

I have always loved the combination of these three together. I think I enjoy adding a flute a bit more, but either way these three form the base.

I have noticed that music sounds better when the players are cute.

That's why the ugly singers never make it on American Idol. Not that I would watch such a dehumanizing tv show.

The Gagliano may not be as striking or as versatile as the Strad, but it is still one of my favorites out of GPO.

    Very nice piece!

    Well done

I also think a flute works nicely with the strings.

Well, a real change of pace from your Requiem. This is a style that really seems to suit you, especially the first section. I agree that your writing would work well in a songwriting vein, but as you say, words are involved - which calls for a different skill set...

    Nice piece!

Well, at least I got myself out of the mortuary on this one. Ha,ha.

I do feel the most comfortable working with melodies.

Thanks for your thoughts and good words.
