Hi, I like the live sound of this piece. It really has the feel of a performance.
The solos also are nice. The only thing that stood out a bit to me was the drum kit, and I can't really say exactly what struck me, maybe the overall volume.
I really noticed the snare and tom hits standing out.
I enjoyed your choice of acoustic guitar in the ensemble. Was this samples or recorded live? Also, what library or libraries did you use in this?
Thanks for sharing this piece! John

    Hi Bigears,

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. It is much appreciated.

I agree with you about the snare and tom hits being loud. I meant them to be loud, but maybe I over did it? This version already has the cymbals and hihat turned down and maybe I will try another mix where I bring the snare and toms down. I appreciate hearing other peoples opinions about this. After a certain amount of time spent on the project, I become immune to certain aspects and a neutral, disinterested opinion is very valuable.

There are two guitars on this piece and both are live.

The rest of the instruments are virtual. The vibes are the JABB vibes. The rest are from other sources.

    Hi, Little Red King!

What a treat this piece is - Kinetic, percussive jazz with a really appealing sly sensibility to it. I enjoyed it very much!

I'll go along with the observation that the drums are a bit out of proportion with the rest of the ensemble. The unusual line for the drums is obviously a critical ingredient and you don't want to mute them too much. But it's also the extremely wide panning of the kit's instruments which add to the impression that they are dominating more than necessary.

But yeah!---This is some Hot stuff. Thanks for posting!

    Hi Randy,

Thank you for your ideas on the drums. The idea of tightening their stereo field is an interesting one and I will play around with that the next time I try some remixing on this.

This is a nice funky jazz piece. The real guitars really help it sound wise.

A little remixing and you'll have a winner.
