Solo Violin, viola and piano - Conversations with the Wind

Hi! Been a while since I posted something here. So, here is a recent short piece I composed and played called Conversations with the Wind with solo Violin, viola and piano.

I will leave it at that. As always, any constructive criticism on any aspect is always welcome!

Hi, The only thing wrong with this is that it's too short! I was just getting in the flow and the piano signaled the end was coming. Very nice moody and meditative piece, and a nice recording as well! John

    Thanks Del,

Beautiful writing and rendering on this piece which carries all the hallmarks of your work. The portamento on the violin is spot on - not overdone and executed with feeling and precision. I enjoyed this very much.

    Del,

I agree with John! It's too short...

    Lovely!

I like the conversations between the instruments, each clear sounding.

    Thanks for sharing,

Too Short seems to be the general consensus.

It is a very short conversation, but the words were well spoken and executed in a delightful manner.

    Very nice piece.

The music is very soothing and relaxing. I find the conversation between these instruments deep and profound. Too short, perhaps, but I guess they said what needed to be said, and that's enough in itself. Beautiful rendering too. Thank you.

John - Many thanks for listening - I suppose that is one of the ultimate compliments one can get - too short. I actually worked really hard on the mix this time. I am discovering that mixing is just as crucial as any other aspect of a piece. The piece is only as good as the weakest link.

Yudit, Thanks for taking the time to listen - appreciated! I do love the interplay between stringed instruments. This actually started out with just a single violin. I then added a second which really made a big difference. I wish we all had a viola as good as the Strad Violin.

I solved the too short issue by listening to it a few more times.

Very nicely done and great writing.

Beautiful harmonies, a modal musical speech with a relaxing and subtle feeling.
