Question Question about the relationship between operating system and hardware?

I just received my old PC with all three hard drives disconnected all know is one of these drives has the operating system (windows XP) Is it okay if I reconnect them in any order? or do they have to be in the exact same place they were before?

Normally you need to hook all up in the same order especially your boot drive with your operating system. Usually if the boot drive isn't hooked up properly, then the OS won't load. Also, the drive letter configurations may change if hooked up in a different order.
