    The Night

This is what I have been working on for the past month.

    THE NIGHT http://www.box.net/shared/ben21ou8t6

This is the final version, as is done, finished, completed, and some other things I can't post here.

For those who are keeping track of how any tracks I put into a song...LOL...this one is only 28 tracks. Smallest mixing board I have ever set up.

    3 synths
    1 bass synth

    GPO
    6 Cellos
    6 Violas
    6 Violins
    2 French Horns
    2 Trumpets
    2 Bassoons

Now it's time to clean the empties out of the studio.

I don't know, are you sure you're through with this? Lot's of room for about a hundred more instruments.

Just kidding! Sounds good Hippie! What's that tinkly sound? John

    LOL

I tried some other instruments and they sounded good in the mix but went to hell in the master.....so I said bye bye to them and stayed with this mix and master. I did a ton of FX tricks to all the tracks.

The tinkly sound is from the Yamaha So8 sound bank, it's called Spiral, I was going through all the synth sounds they had and found this one and said, " hey Slick.....we got to use this one!!!" LOL

    Re: The Night

    Thank you Fred.

I have one more song to write and record and then I will redo the orchestra on 3 songs by Libra Stash (Ben Carnett) that I produced, mix and mastered. His singer quit after doing the 3 songs so I will add them to my CD since that project went down the tubes.

    Twinkle twinkle little star.....

The best thing about drinking wine out of a box is that my clean-up time is a lot quicker than yours.

Most of my pieces have 35 + midi tracks, but of course they are all played thru the one instrument (my Casio Keyboard) and easily edited via Sonar.

I am still hesitant about working with live audio but you do it extremely well.

    Another great piece

I like a lot, it has a subtle atmosphere, very spiritual like an invitation to meditate.

    Thanks Ron.

Most of my songs have between 42 to 64 tracks in them. Some of them are layered tracks, as in I bring a track into the mixing board 2 or 3 times and give it a different set of effects.

On this track I didn't use a click/timing track to keep time, I played it by feel.

Live audio I understand...midi, not so much. LOL

I just let myself go and your music took me to a nice place.

A great blend on this one.
