    Tonehammer Waterphone Video Teaser

    Welcome to the Tonehammer Waterphone.

We decided to sample this instrument deeper and more creatively then ever before. The best current water phone libraries contains approx. 180-200 samples, which is less then 1/15 of the Tonehammer Waterphone, which contains a mighty 2.900 samples recorded with a variety of bows, a huge set of mallets, metal devices, hands and other contraptions. The library also contains a variety of more experimental patches, including boiled water at four different temperature levels, hydrophone recordings (underwater microphones in the waterphone), magnets on waterphone tines and filling waterphone with metal nails and other goodies. The sample library simply covers all thinkable and unthinkable type of articulations and we can proudly state we sampled the living soul out of the waterphone. All playable mallet programs contains our standard 10 velocity layer - 10 round robin for maximum playability. In addition Francesca contains a bonus set of waterphone ambiences (note: Kontakt 3 only) made by Steven Tavaglione (Instrumentalist and Sound Designer; Wall-E, American Beauty, CSI, Supernatural and 100s other movies/shows/games).

Note: All the sounds in the video/demo, and yes “hand drums” too, are exclusively from the Waterphone library. Remember to click the "HQ" button in Youtube for high-quality resolution.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, guys! I think you have outdone yourselves this time.

Nice to see some of the sound production too, on the video. One question: any chance you will sample someone walking around in those very cool bear paw slippers?

    eww...

wow it will be interesting to see how these 2 compare
From what I can tell on the websites it looks like Tonehammers is an awesome acoustics Waterphone collection, but I am also a big fan of Sample Logic and I know theirs will be a hit. It seems like the Sample Logic product will be both acoustic and morphed score effect material at least from what I gathered on their site.

Based on Sample Logic's other releases, they don't try to recreate instruments as a purist would, rather they create new and original instruments from the source materials. I wouldn't expect to see meticulous layers of sample velocities and round robin. IMO, I think their focus is about making music rather than the academics of sampling. Sounds like they are focusing on the rhythmic loop elements too.

    Re: Tonehammer Waterphone Video Teaser

Velocity layers and round robin are crucial for a musical experience and the Tonehammer Waterphone is by far the most comprehensively sampled Waterphone - both with bows and rhythmic elements such as Rubber, Metal, Wood mallets and a comprehensive sampling of hand played. In addition it contains Waterphone ambiences made by Thomas Newmans ambient designer and a variety of experimental patches.

You should listen to the demos and compare. The Tonehammer Waterphone contains over 2.900 samples and 55 different articulations, so it is metiously sampled, since its a very versatile instrument.
