    Re: Alternate Giga Sample Players

Do any of the alternatives mentioned have the ability to assign bank and patch numbers to loaded samples like Giga did (so you can trigger different articulations in a scorewriter such as Sibelius using programme and bank changes)?

From what I can tell Machfive, G-Player, Samplelord and Linux Player are all missing this feature. I see you can do this with YT Independence but so far the switch is too slow for playback - it takes a good few seconds for the change to happen and the sample be ready to play.

Any help would really be appreciated.

I already have G-Player and have looked at all the settings and controls again and you can't do this from what I can tell. Could you tell me how to do it?

I use Native Instruments Kontakt 4 regarding the purpose you mentioned. Kontakt does all what you wan't and better.
Not really cheap, but I imported all Giga Libs which I still use, especially with my older compositions.

I own Kontakt 4 but have not found these settings - guess I need to get out the instruction manual/play around a bit more. All I want to do is to write in Sibelius 6 and then playback the correct instruments with the correct articulations from a number of different sound libraries but mainly Gig format. Sometimes it feels like this a monumental ask!

    O yes, I aggree.
Whithout reading the instructon manual it will be really impossible to set the right adjustments. But it is the time worth.

Difficult to give advise when we do not know what your setup is. Maybe, that is the reason no one answered your thread.
However, let me know (here) if you are still interested running G-Player. I do run it and love it.
