    Liszt Consolations

Liszt's 6 Consolations rank with the best short romantic pieces for piano produced in 19th Century, along with Chopin, Mendelssohn etc. Here are two Consolations, the ever-popular no. 3, and the less well-known sonorous no. 4, both straight-through performances on the Authorized Steinway, in classic perspective. A little reverb has been added.

    Re: Liszt Consolations

I knew why I loved the Steinway and Liszt's music. Reminds me of nights when my son used to come home from college and play these late at night on our 7' Steinway. The Authorized version sends chills down my spine just as listening from my upstairs bedroom to the sounds wafting up from the piano room. Thanks for the memories!!

Marvelous performances, Lad! You AND the Steinway sound very good.

Thank you for honoring us with your Liszt interpretations.

    Eugene:

Very well presented. You have captured a marvelous sound
on the Garritan Steinway. I particularly liked how you emphasized
the melodic lines in the Right Hand. The left if definitely portrayed
as an accompaniment and you displayed this very well.

Nice tone and pedalling. Great listening, Eugene.

    Eugene,

    Lovely performance!

I just took out my Liszt scores and played them with delight.

    What a composer!

    Thanks.

    Re: Liszt Consolations

Thanks Dan, Rich, Larry, Owen, Jack, and Yudit for listening and for your kind comments. Glad you all enjoyed both pieces. My plan is to hopefully do the other 4 Consolations at some future stage.
The Authorized Steinway continues to beckon and fascinate...
