Stradivari and Gofriller with Intel Mac

    Hi All:

I'm running Digital Performer 5.13 on an Intel Mac with
    OS X 10.4.9.

I purchased the Stradivari and Gofriller during the 2007
Christmas "sale" and have it installed on my PC. Now, I
want to install them on my Mac Pro (Intel) 2.66 Ghz, 4 GB
    RAM machine.

Reading the manual, I see that there is mention of an
Intel upgrade, but haven't heard much about it. Can the
original program be installed on an Intel Mac or is there an
upgrade somewhere at NI for BOTH the Stradivari and Gofriller
    stringed instruments?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The upgrade is the update to the Kontakt Player software from Native Instruments. Get the 2.2.4 Mac update and you will be good to go.

    Kevin:

Thank you so much. I went to NI and download Kontakt 2.2.4.
From reading my manual, it says if you have ONE product using
the Kontakt Player 2, all of your products will work with it. Is this
true? In otherwords, I should load my Stradivari and Gofriller, one
after the other, then load JUST ONE version of the Kontakt Player 2
2.2.4 update and I will be good to go? Don't need one for Both?

Sorry for the needed confirmation, but I'm new to loading updates
    on my Intel Mac Pro.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jack,
Kevin is right, both of those instruments come with their own player,

    BUT

They both use the same player, Kontakt player 2
just like Jazz & Big Band, Personal Orchestra and Marching Band
    and First Call Horns too

Re: Stradivari and Gofriller with Intel Mac

    No problem, Rhap.

To be honest, the whole NI install thing is confusing to me too. I use Strad and Go in the full Kotakt program, but I did install the Kontakt Player software just for the heck of it. I don't recall if I installed it twice. It would seem to me that once you have the Kontakt Player 2 installed all products using it would be upgraded. But I'm not sure, so here is what I would do.

    1) Install the update 2.2.4 for either Strad or Go.

    2) Open up both Strad and Go and see if they load with the 2.2.4 Kontakt Player software. I expect they will.

    3) If one of them does not open in 2.2.4 then download and install the 2.2.4 update for that product. You should then be good to go.

If you decide to install both the Strad and Go 2.2.4 updates it should not hurt anything as you will just be overwriting the program files. On a Mac that is not a big deal at all.

Let me know how it turns out!

Hi Jack, I think you need to download and install the update for each product that uses the KP2. On my machines, the name of the library remained grayed out and wouldn't show the library until I installed the update, then it became colored like in Dan's screenshot. I have a few non Garritan libraries that use the KP2 and they behaved the same way. John

Re: Stradivari and Gofriller with Intel Mac

Thank you all. I will install BOTH Kontakt Player 2 versions, one
for each: Gofriller and Stradivari. Then, I will install the Gofriller
and Stradivari programs. Lastly, I will test each and report back.

Thanks again for such expeditious help.

    Hello Jack,
I think you should install Strad and Go first, then install the updates. This way you don't install an older version over a newer version.

Re: Stradivari and Gofriller with Intel Mac

    Point well taken, Kevin.

    Here's what I did:

    1. Installed Gofriller Cello
    2. Installed Kontakt V2.2.4 for Gofriller Cello (update)
    3. Installed NI Service Center software

Gofriller worked fine and was seen in the Kontakt Player 2 window.

    4. Installed Stradivari Violin
    5. Installed NI Service Center software again

Played the Stradivari, HOWEVER, when doing so, the Gofriller
disappeared from the Kontakt Player 2 window.

    6. Installed Kontakt V2.2.4 for Stradivari Violin (update)

Both the Gofriller and Stradivari appeared in Kontakt Player 2 window
and played fine........(as fine as I could play them without practice...lol)

I have a picture of both instruments in the Kontakt Player 2, but can't
attach it to this post as I don't have a site with which to link it.

QUESTION: what are the little "yellow" triangles in the upper L.H.
    corner of both instruments?

Hi Jack, I think that means they aren't yet registered with NI. You will have to launch the Service Center and it will guide you through the process which is pretty straightforward and easy. Now go make some music! John
