    Just goofing around w/ Ruby

    Hi all,

    Last night I was practice-composing, mainly trying to get more of a handle on KH Ruby. The more I use it the more I am convinced that for my purposes, it is second only to libraries costing 10 to 50 times the price. I ended up with this climactic thing using strings and brass (the woodwinds are still tricky to me and will have to wait).

    I welcome any comments you have, especially if you don't like this.

    wow, that is honestly up there as one of the best showcases of Ruby I've heard. That sounds fantastic! Everything is really well balanced.

    Kirk`s libraries are great. I have got the Emerald and use it very often in my commercial productions. The more you experiment with them, the more you will like them!

    Kirk's libraries are almost always my first resort.

    Thanks for the compliments! It is such an expansive world compared to the GPO that I grew up on. If there is anything I have learned from this, it is:

    1. Creating an orchestral template saves days of time;
    2. If you feel the need to EQ, reach for the mix/reverb controls first;
    3. Investing in a quality controller keyboard makes human expression effortless, and also saves days of polishing time; and
    4. There is no substitute for good orchestration! (Not that I have good orchestration! I just have made the observation...)

    Lontas, you definitely have a very nice sound there... For those of you who have ruby, is there legato live for the woodwinds and brass??. I know that he's using now tvec, but I was still getting better legato and portamento from legato live... i have emerald, and I'm just wondering how many instruments may have this???

    I don't know about legato live, but you do get IntervaLive with KH woodwinds and brasses. For Legato, I'm getting great results with these. If you have emerald, you do already have all the woodwinds and some of the brasses.
