    Avoiding violin hickeis

We all know about them, but is there a way of preventing them? I've been practicing four days now for a concert and my neck is all blushed and knobby. yaaak

Wear a thick, cushioning turtle neck?

You could always fabricate a more interesting story of how you got them.

Um, did you watch the whole video? Notice anything strange at about 3:00? Such as he stops playing but the fiddle we hear keeps going?! Im not saying he is faking the whole performance, perhaps he does play the solos, but thats pretty lame 'performing' on his part...

I hate seeing people fake it and that Diggly Liggy performance was clearly faked. Fingers don't move and the bow comes off the string.

Well, this is pretty drastic, but in order to prevent violin hickeys you could... stop playing the violin.

    (grin)

    I know... not hardly!

    Yeah right!

Getting rid of the hickey seems kinda unrealistic but isn't there anything you could do to at least prevent it from getting worse? I know, fellow violinists tell me to wear it with pride but I just find it unappealing.
