    Can anybody identify this piece?

Sorry for asking this here, I tried in the "Listening Area", but not much circulation there.

I found this piece on the net, I never heard it and was wondering if anybody could tell me what it is. I suspect the composer.... It seems like a piano reduction.

    Thanks!

The theme has a touch of the flavor of Chopin's funeral march. But he didn't do much orchestral writing. Also sounds a touch like Beethoven or Schubert or Brahms or any of the Romantics. Let us know the answer when you find out. Is it Bacos?

Beethoven, Brahms or Shubert seems about right to me Jay. I'm thinking this is a piano reduction, so for orchestra could maybe be late Beethoven?

    Anybody else?

I was thinking more along the lines of a Wagner overture, or Verdi in Wagnerian mood.

Sounds most like Liszt to me (very like les preludes). 2 pianos in this. Its very sparse (even though the harmonies are thick in parts) for a piano reduction though.

My guess is a clever contemporary imitation of Liszt, because the style isnt completely consistent - 1.22 to 1.42 sounds too like someone channeling a bit of lofty Beethoven. But then again back in the day most of them were just trying to channel Beethoven anyway!
