It's Dance Like a Chicken Day!

Today is etLux's favorite day of the year.

It's National Dance Like A Chicken Day!

National Dance Like A Chicken Day falls on 14th May every year. It's one of those strange holidays where you wonder who would celebrate this day (aside from etLux). As to whether this day came first, or "Dance Like an Egg Day", that is still a mystery.

To celebrate, just dance like a chicken!

I once saw an absolutely fascinating documentary done on German life by a film crew from Kenya. (Really the reverse of the kind of documentaries we normally see).

They saw weathercocks and the chicken dance and other poultry examples and concluded that the chicken was some sort of a totemic symbol. There were so many other examples of them seeing European life through African eyes, it made me stop and wonder how far off track are our interpretations of African life!
