Once I found some nice midi files.
This: Pianoflage by Roy Bargy(1922), Midifile by: W.S.Trachtmann
Yes, it is the one and only Steinway, just a tiny bit altered.
I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention because this caught me by surprise. A pleasant surprise, though. This is the type of music that made the roaring twenty's roar! A great find and a good job rendering it.
Nicely done, Raymond!
And a name I admit I am unfamiliar with -- though Bargy was apparently amongst the heavyweights of his day:
According to Wikipedia, "[i]n 1928 he was the first pianist to record George Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F (in an arrangement by Ferde Grofé; with Paul Whiteman and his Concert Orchestra)."
Thanks for bringing this along!
Yes it is a good rendering job. It works well.
Thanks for sharing Raymond
Love it, thanks for doing this,
Raymond. That versatile Steinway!
Thank you all folks. Right now my system is uploading a complete new website with a lot of enjoyable music - Rags & Art Tatum stuff - to listen to.
I will notify you when it is ready. This takes ages....... why is the upload speed only average 54 Kb/s, while I can have more than that (my provider tells me).
The Steinway really sounds good on this tune and very evocative of a bygone era.
