    Melody creation experiment

I don't know if anything like this has been done before (probably has... nothing new under the sun) but I myself haven't seen it done before.

I was wondering what a melody constructed by votes might sound like. If you have a spare second, I'd be really interested in your vote for the next note of an unwritten melody:

    Thanks!

I wonder if it would sound terrible and random, really generic, or not bad?

I think melodies are as dependent on their rhythm as their pitch, so you need to include options for that too.

True, but I just wanted to keep it as simple as possible for a first try...

    - ! - What a fun deal, Sean. I just voted! - But why don't you have a scale going up also, so the next note can be higher - ?

    I'll be keeping track.

    Many thanks Randy!

The next note can be higher... the first note is right smack in the middle of the 2 octave scale, so the next note could be up to an octave higher or down to an octave lower.

I wonder if my little pictures there aren't as clear as they could be?

I see - I didn't look carefully enough. In the staff, I was thinking the first note on the left was the first anchor note, with all the choices being lower. Maybe if the starting C is circled on that staff?

It's probably fine, I ran through the page too fast I think.

    Fun experiment!
