This is your first listening room post? You've been involved in the forum so much I guess I never noticed you never posted any music.

    A negative remark - it's too short.

Very cinematic. Is there a story behind this? Maybe literally a story by H P Lovecraft?

    Nice first listening room post.

Reeb! I instantly need to echo Trent's reaction - I don't think I would've realized you haven't posted music here before! You're such a friendly fixture here at the Forum, I wouldn't have thought this could be your First musical post!

Hey--what's all this "please be gentle" stuff? You're not feeling confident about this? If you're not, you certainly should be. Extremely cinematic, as Trent also pointed out. It's right there in the current Hollywood sound track mold, and I'm sure that's what you intended - You succeeded beautifully!

oops---the ending is cut off - I think maybe this continues and you grabbed just a portion to post?

    Which Lovecraft story inspired you?

Spectacular stuff, Reebs--Congrats--now relax, it'd be impossible for anyone to rip into this.--(not that we Ever "rip into" posts!)

Wow, such pleasant reactions! Whew! I've been "honing" my recording and mixing skills and just never had the nerve to put my stuff on here before. Thanks for the kind comments.

Yes, it's short, intentionally so. It's an intro to a short movie I am putting together about one of my favorite American authors, H. P. Lovecraft. I hope this captures some of the tragedy and glory of his work. There's some hellacious stuff in his work, but alot of beauty (woefully unrecognized) as well.

    Thanks for the confidence boost!

Your hard work at improving your skills surely has paid off, Reber - This sounds just great to me.

The ending though - It's definitely a mistake in the MP3, it just cuts off like the proverbial old broken tape. - ?

I know...it's far from a complete piece of music. The abrupt finish is really not an "ending" so much as just a cut-off point. I just wanted to post a sample initially to get my feet wet in the Listening Room. Maybe soon I'll expand it a bit more, do some development, etc.

Lots of projects going on, including this one! Nice to be busy, but "priorities is priorities!" - and providing a definitive ending to this one is for a later time.

Thanks again for your very kind comments!

Ah, good - I just wanted to make sure you knew that it sounded as if your MP3 file had been snipped with scissors. -

Well then, as a work in progress, let me suggest that you produce a temporary ending for installments. In this case, you could have held the chord and done a fade out - just so listeners wouldn't think there was a technical problem that needed to be brought up. That's what happened with me - I was listening with such pleasure, so excited to hear you producing this great sound, and then SNIP--the tape broke. It was extremely distracting. Just a note for future.

    Reber...

I'll be gentle and bold at the same time and ask you:

Where have you been hiding until now

A great intro that immediately captures attention and evokes anticipation for the story that is about to unfold!

Don't wait too long for bringing us more!

Being a Lovecraft admirer, I am anxious to know the nature of the film you are producing.

As to the music, there is absolutely no need to request the reviewers for a gentle response. Simply put, this is quite effective especially in its varying dynamics and surges of power. How very like the spirit of Lovecraft himself.

As you work more on this project please keep us informed.
