    FANTASY on RUFFLES & FLORISH

Brief remembrance from 40 years ago on MILITARY HONORS FOR (1) A 4 STAR ADMIRAL/GENERAL and (2) the President of the UNITED STATES.

You are right... it is brief! I think it is a good start to a wonderful salute to the USA military type medley. Obviously, I would like to hear more.
The only criticism I could give is the amount of reverb and the dynamics of the instruments. They sounded (on my system anyway) too soft and with too much reverb. This is a personal preference thing and by no means detracts from the musical writing which you have done quite well.

    Thanks for sharing this.

    This is well done Gary.

From an engineering point of view I would take some of the reverb out and give the instruments a little more edge but that's just me and my ears and we all know the kind of music and engineering I do.

With all that said this piece is still well done.

    Thanks for listening, Rich.
I did this on a whim after talking about "recognition."
I put the levels very low in the mixer and I was still getting unbalanced sound approaching nOiSe.
It's a good idea about a Service medley.
Most bands still perform one arrangement or a easier version.
I'm going to a get together of the Retired Navy Musicians in
Virginia Beach in two weeks, so I'm not starting any projects until afterwards.

Sounds pretty good. I agree that you should do more with it. Even as it is you could make "Hail to the Chief" a little longer.

Many years ago I was in Navy ROTC. After a summer on a nuke sub I decided it wasn't the life for me. One thing, though, is I played trumpet in our unit's band the 2 years I was a midshipman. I do remember playing ruffles and flourishes and such...

    Thanks for listening, Trent.
In the Summer of 1959 our Band members were certain that no Flag Officer ever arrived or departed from Norfolk without our Band playing.
We were on cruises the next 2 Summers.
