I accept with information: The reason the syncrosoft driver issue appeared for you is because the registry key the driver is stored in changes with 64-bit windows, especially windows 7. The registry location GVI apps look in for the syncrosoft info (specifically the list of plugged-in license dongles) is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\SynasUSB\Enum

    Hello from France,

I've used Gigastudio 4 with a Tascam US-122L sound card (GSIF v 2.1 driver) and Windows XP 32 bits since one year without problems.

Now, I've re-installed my computer with Windows 7 64 bits, GS4 (64 bits) and the 64 bit Vista driver for US 122L but I have no sounds when I play my keyboards. The 122L is always recognized by GS4 and run perfectly with others applications (video, CD, Windows sounds...). On GS4 screen, I have the response of my Midi keyboards, activity on vu-meters and virtual keyboard (engine is on start position).

Is GS4 compatible with Windows 7 64 bits ? If yes, what is the problem ?

See if it works in Rewire. For that to work though, your sequencer has to be 32 bit.

    Re: GVI/GS4 on Windows 7

I have received the following message from TEAC/TASCAM custom service:
"Gigastudio 4 is only up to Vista 64 bit and not Windows 7. We have Windows 7 32 bit drivers for the US-122L at the moment, we are still developing the Windows 7 64 bit drivers. Those drivers should be available soon. I do not have an expected release date for those drivers".

So, I 've formated my computer and installed Vista Business 64 bits and US-122L with its 64 bits driver (only GS4 and not other softwares to avoid conflicts) : I have the same problem : no sounds when I play. Apparently, I have no activity from hard disk (no streaming ?), even if I put the GIG files in another hard disk.

Now, after formatting, I've installed XP Home 32 bits again, with the 122L : I have sounds ! So there are no problems with my computer I suppose. I try GS4 + 122L on another computer with XP 32 bits : it's OK. Is it linked to 64 bits ? (but I have not tested GS4 with XP 64 bits).

    I don't understand what's happened with Vista.
    Someone have a response ?

It is probably your Tascam sound device does not support GS4x64.
Few sound devices allow you to run GS4x64. RME products do.

I have the US-122L 64 bit driver for Vista (from Tascam website), so this is not the problem, and Tascam recommend to use Vista 64 or XP 64 for GS4.

But there is a difference in GSIF drivers when it comes to Gigastudio in 64 bit. I have talked to the marketing director of Tascam. He said only RME cards and some of the discontinued Tascam FW devices will only allow you to use GS4x64.

I created a XP partition on W7 so I could use GS4 in XP. It was that or spend $500 on a RME card.

    OK, thanks.

I've ordered the free upgrade from Vista 64 to W7 business 64 to use the XP mode (virtual PC). But I don't know if XP run in 32 or 64 bits in this mode ?

    Re: GVI/GS4 on Windows 7

I have GigaStudio 4 and was hoping to install 64 bit Windows 7 on my PC which I use solely as a slave for this purpose. My sound card is MOTU 2408 Mk 3, and their website states they have 64 bit drivers. I also have an ESI M8UXL MIDI interface which is supposed to not require any special drivers and just hang off the built in drivers from the OS, which it has been doing sort of ok under Vista 32 bit OS.

I am also concerned to know whether GSIF drivers are necessary and if so if they are available in 64 bit, and where to find them, given that TASCAM simply shut this product down with no further support available, to my present knowledge.

Can anyone please advise whether this will work?

Your card has to have GSIF 2.1 drivers in order to get GS4 64bit to work. GS4 doesn't even allow you to install it as a 32 bit app. When you install GS4 on a 64 bit system without any card with GSIF 2.1 driver it will switch to Rewire and then shut down since there is no 64 bit Rewire.
