    Talking Jazz Jazz JAZZ!!!

    Hi everybody!

I was wondering if there is anyone here who just love putting their samples to good use and make some good old jazz music!

To me, jazz music is the most difficult thing to achieve with samples...it just doesnt match up to the real thing....but it comes close....

So if anyone wants to share some nice jazz tunes using samples or synths, please do so! I love hearing them...and im sure others do too!

Heres a little piece i made with Garritan JABB, EZ drummer Jazz kit and some silly violin soundfont i found somewhere....

Heckler: love the music, thanks for sharing!

I just put together a compilation of some jazz(ish) stuff that I've done... and thought I would share. There are a few mixes that incorporate one live player, just because it adds so much to the overall result.

    Three words.....I LOVE IT!!!

Amazing variations of jazz you got there....Your work is very catchy and melodic.

Yes your right.... 1 or 2 live players can make your whole arrangement sound not only real....but also mainstream
I'm particularly fond of those drums you used in the first song....Which drums are those if i may ask... I love the solid yet damp sound of the snares....

Some time ago I did an improvisation with Jabb,

Solo piano and solo trombone. Enjoy!

Amazing use of jazz chords there!
The trombone gives off quite a charming vibe...
The piano near the end displays some great rhythm...Love it!

Thanks Heckler! Drums from the first mix are actually just loops from Logic . Some surprisingly good stuff in there.

    Re: Jazz Jazz JAZZ!!!

This thread is hopefully what Im looking for!

About 4 years ago I bought JABB. Didn´t use it much because I neer reached the sounds I assumed it had when I first purchased it. I actually put all efforts in creating previews in a digital environment for my swing band.

I learned to arrange and orchestrate in Sibelius instead and for being a total sheet music illiterate the result was great, meaning that the guys in the band could play my music as it should sound directly from the sheets.

Now I still feel that many of you guys make it sound really good and even if the difference from a real horn section can be identified it´s still to good to not being impressed by.

How do you manage this? Is it loads of twist and tweak to make it sound like that or could the sound be totally ruined if you use the wrong sound board? I don´t know but ask you guys that seems to have better control and experience than myself!

I run ProTools LE v.8 on an MBOX2 external sound card on a new PC with loads of RAM and Vista 32 bit OS.

Alex- would you mind sharing what brass you are using? I'm a former trumpet player myself- and your brass renderings are very good. And any brass wisdon you could drop would be great. ALWAYS trying to make the samples sound better.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Mark
