giga3 and cubase 5 rewire problems

a friend of mine has just changed and upgraded his DAW with cubase5 (he previously had ver.2sx).
he used gigastudio 3 with the vienna library in cubase 2 in rewire mode.

now he is not able to get Giga3 sounds into cubase.

i'm trying to help him...

we tried to use giga3 with cubase5:
we open cubase5
we open giga3
in cubase we choose giga3 rewire and activate the first 2 channels

now,if we load an instrument in giga and play it from the keyboard,we correctly se the audio meter in giga3 moving, so we thing that giga is actually producing some sounds.

the problem is that the giga3 audio stream does not come to cubase,so that we are actually not hearing any sound.

what could be the problem???
i'mnot used to cubase since i'm using sonar and,moreover,i dont use giga,either, so i'm not veryfamiliar with the settings...

PS:in standalone mode giga is correctly working and playing.

are you perhaps using Vista 64 bit? if so, rewire is not 64bit compatible. you'd have to use the 32bit version of cubase to make it work.
