David,
Masterful job. Very economical with the material and the orchestration. It's a very affective piece. I'd be curious to know if there's a programmatic element to the piece.
Enjoyed very much,

David:
As I've said it before, in many ways, that you belong in Hollywood, or a major TV studio or where ever they need top notch, professional writing. I don't think I could conceive any thing like this if my life depended on it but I sure like what YOU do. The sonorities, the orchestration, the "toots, whistles, plunks and booms" are so well chosen and placed. It's a blast and very educational to listen to.
Steve
Many thanks for the good word, Aram!

Hi Randy,
I hope it doesn't rain on Halloween.
Many thanks, my friend -- I do try not to repeat myself. What a stimulating, thoroughly satisfying piece of work this is, David. Some of the characteristic Sosnowski fits and starts, bursts of suspended phrases, unpredictable textures appearing and weaving around their magic--and all in a unique ominous tapestry unlike anything we've ever heard from you.
I didn't know you enjoyed SCUBA diving, Randy... lol.In other words, I loved the journey. I do wish I could have trekked on longer down this darkly lit path!
No, this is straight GPO4 throughout, Randy; other thanAND it would be interesting to know more about your instrumentation - Does this have any of your great SSynth on it?
the G.Steinway/Classic for the piano part.
The brass is the new GPO4/Sams; with the other instruments
drawn from the standard complement of GPO4 voices.
As always, thank you for your kindness toward my work,A real treat, David - thank you!

Hi Randy, this is a opening with a wallop!
I'm not sure that there was room for any more instruments at the opening.
I have searched for ways to build sound, but mostly it comes out cluttered.
Is it basically setting up the notes like an overtone series?
A compelling work.
Gary
David,
Brrrr... devilish indeed... lol.
You certainly do 'more with less' with each new composition.
Seems like all the instruments voice the devil… all except the flute.
At one point it sounds weak, then at another point it sounds stronger
and keeps the devilish sounds away for a while…
but to no avail…
they come back!
Very good work from every point of view.
Thanks,
~Yudit~
David,
As always, you blow me away...whether it is your piano pieces, orchestral work, or any variant...blown away! This is no exception. Your command of modern tonalities in enviable...can you feel the envy oozing off this post?!?!?!
I have a puddle of envy right next to my keyboard right now!!! Or is that coffee?
Anyway...loved this.
BTW...I have been trying to learn one of your gaseous preludes!!! Great stuff...and quite a bit beyond my current ability.Although it still sounds cool even at my SLOW tempo!

Hi Ron,
Perhaps less complexity than usual, Ron? More a sketch
than a formal piece, there's very little development in
this.

brevity and lack of development. One way or another,
most every note is somehow motivically derived.
Thanks for the listen and the good word, my friend!A thought provoking piece.
Nicely done

Hi Paul,
Thanks, Paul, and yes, it makes sense. Part of the trick
of writing something like this is, I think, to "go lean".
Hit the gas pedal too hard, and it loses rather than gains.

Hi Trent,
Yes, this is all GPO4 (other than the G.Steinway);
including the choir, of course.
I should note that I'm not at all pleased with my
mix on this one -- still getting the hang of working
with GPO4.
The effects... it's surprising some of the tricks you
can pull off with an orchestra -- like the timpani rolled
bends... which really add to an "atmosphere" piece
like this.
Thanks for listening, Trent.
All my best,
David
