Many thanks for the kindness, my friend; but were
I to work for a studio, the music'd come out three
years after the movie... lol. I'm slow. Very slow.

Come to think of it, in more ways than one...

I don't think I could conceive any thing like this if my life depended on it but I sure like what YOU do. The sonorities, the orchestration, the "toots, whistles, plunks and booms" are so well chosen and placed. It's a blast and very educational to listen to.

    Steve
To get serious for a moment, having a good "conception" --
that's a Jazz term, I'm told by Bob DeCelle -- of a piece
before a note goes on the page probably speeds the whole
    writing process tenfold.

And just about anything is grist for the mill, I think. The
"trick" -- if there is one -- is making the connection between
the impressions you have of a subject, and the musicality
    it implies.

Concerning the "toots, whistles, plunks and booms" --
believe it or not, they're all thematic, one way or another.
Even I don't always pick up on it consciously while listening
(though I know the structure is there)... yet, they do have
a reason for being; and in some perhaps subconsciously
perceived manner, they contribute to the integrity of the
    construction of the piece.

    All my best,

    David

Is it basically setting up the notes like an overtone series?
    A compelling work.

Not quite sure if maybe you accidentally posted to the
    wrong thread, Gary...?

    The name's David... lol.

Yeah, there is a bit of a chill on this one, eh?

You certainly do 'more with less' with each new composition.
Don't worry -- that won't last... lol! Seriously, though,
I am working toward less complexity, lately.

Seems like all the instruments voice the devil… all except the flute.
At one point it sounds weak, then at another point it sounds stronger
and keeps the devilish sounds away for a while…
    but to no avail…
    they come back!

Very good work from every point of view.

    Thanks,

    Yudit
Thanks for the listen and the good thoughts, Yudit.

Good to see you around again, Paul!

Lol! Oh, stop oozing, Paul... though I certainly much appreciate
the recognition of the theoretical work. I know you're working
toward a deeper understanding of this -- and not to worry: it
comes with time and experience and thought.

After a while what happens... you start to develop a very fundamental
sense of the underpinnings of creating a certain type of musical
space -- the harmonic work, the orchestration -- that goes well
beyond all the theory and orchestration and compostion books.

Not that that's an excuse to stop studying them, by the way!
It's a broad and deep knowledge of prior theory that gives you the
    foundation to create your own.

I have a puddle of envy right next to my keyboard right now!!! Or is that coffee?
    Yellow coffee? Hmmm.

    Anyway...loved this.

BTW...I have been trying to learn one of your gaseous preludes!!! Great stuff...and quite a bit beyond my current ability. Although it still sounds cool even at my SLOW tempo!
Wonderful! I'll give you a hint, though. You know all that stuff
they teach you about fingering in piano class? Er, well... I, uh,
    don't exactly play that way...

    All my best,

That's heartening, actually. I think a lot of my pieces
tend to put people to sleep... rofl!

Seriously though - this is a bit different for you and I know you are trying things out which you "still" do so well.
    I have some sort of phobia about repeating myself;
hence, I do work actively toward ever expanding the
    musical terrain.

Still, each new piece [improvisations excluded] builds
on the same theoretical foundations and stylistic
    considerations.

A great listen - enjoyed immensely!

On another note - will you release an AU version (MAc) of your new Sos Synth? Or am I missing something?

    Del
Sorry, Del, no Mac version... I'm not geared up to
    develop for that platform.

    Thanks for listening!

    All my best,

    Hello David,

What can I say. You have done it again - a beautiful ethereal piece that is quite sinister in parts. Your orchestration and use of the synthesiser is very well combined.

You really are a very creative man.

    Best wishes,

    Albert

Many thanks, Albert, for such generous and kind comments!

May I note that there's no synthesizer in this, however. This
is straight GPO4, other than the G.Steinway.

I will admit to swiping a few orchestrative tricks from Krzysztof
    Penderecki, however... lol!

    All the best,

    David
