    JACK TAR-Sousa

Here's a seldom played march of Sousa.
Written in 1903. According to a recording of the time by the
Sousa Band, the tempo is really fast-even faster than my version.
Of interest in this piece is tje use of Sailors' Hornpipe.

    Gary,

    Nice to hear from you.

A very nice march! I've never heard this one before so it was a special treat for me to listen this morning.

I'm a big fan of Marches and sousa is obviously the master of marches.

    Thanks for this!

    Re: JACK TAR-Sousa

    Thanks for listening, Dan.
This march has an unusual form:
INTRO--A section B section A section (no repeat)
    C section Sailor's hornpipe-- C section-- C sect. & hornpipe.-C section

Most (not all) marches follow this form:
INTRO -A sect- repeat B sect. repeat
    Trio perhaps a break strain(C?)
    repeat Trio.
