which are the higher quality samples (hermite or linear)?

Just was wondering what the higher quality samples were? Hermite or Linear?

    Thanks,

Preston, I can't claim to understand these two settings, but definitely remember programmer Tom Hopkins explaining that under normal circumstances one wants to leave this at the default "Hermite" setting.

Thank you, again, Randy. That is good to know. Primarily because when tried linear I got some crackling from the Steinway piano.

Also, on another note, after some research I have decided to get a sequencer- it does seem to be of utmost importance. Thanks for your help.

Hermite interpolation is preferred. I don't think you'd want to switch to linear unless you were having CPU overload.

    Exact.
In any case the difference in CPU usage between the too is so minor that everyone should leave it as Hermite interpolation. (both settings are using highly efficient SSE2 assembly code)

David, are you a programmer? Sorry, I know this question is off the wall, so to say, but I am starting to major in computer programming and am thinking of working with programming sound libraries- and, wondered if you had any tips or websites that may be of use?

I would say, download the VST SDK (v2.4 not v3.0)
    http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/...developer.html
This will give you an entry point in your favorite DAW.

Have a look at musicdsp.org for some ready made algorithms and tips

The rest is experience and perseverance

Thank you for your response David. I will have a look at both things.
