    Latest Film Score

    Hey all,
A week or so ago, I posted THIS THREAD - which has two film scores I have done for a director who is continually entering contests. Well, here is the latest one. I thought it would be a continuation of the previous two, but he took a different direction. I am glad he did. This is the Jury level entry for "Smoke and Mirrors" (see linked thread for more info)

This one is called "R.U.N." HERE IS THE LINK

    Instruments used:

    Garritan stuff:

GOS - Short bows - Cellos and 1st Violins.
GOS - Additional Techniques 2 patches - celli and 1st violins - FX.
GOS - Col legno (loose and tight) for both Cellos and Violins.
GOS - Tremolo for Cellos and 1st Violins.
GPO4 - SAM Horn section and Trumpet section
GPO4 - Horns and Trumpets overlay AG
GPO4 - Timpani and bass drum
Garritan instruments for Finale - Taiko drums
Garritan Solo Stradivari - layered with all violin parts
Garritan Solo Gofriller - layered with all cello parts

    Non-Garritan stuff:
K2-VSL - Violin and Cello staccato alt 1+2
K2 - VSL Orchestral Percussion (bowed cymbal, non-snared snare drum roll and woodblocks)
Tsaiko percussion library - economy patch. (taiko drums)

    Reverb:
    Space Designer: Old Concert Hall

    Composed using Apple Logic Studio.

This was a lot of fun - even though I only had a few hours to get it all done.

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks for listening/ watching!!

    Great job Jerry!
    Sounds on target... very suspenseful.
Nice to see those GOS strings in action.

    Much enjoyed.

Yeah, good job, especially if it only took you a few hours. I think the music deserves better acting, though.

    Jerry;
This was the best one yet!! I couldn't believe it was only 3 minutes long, I felt like I was inside the movie a lot longer!! You are very skilled at this type of work and if you knocked that off in a few hours, you've get what it takes, for sure! Perfect instrument choices, timing and overall design.
I thought the sound quality itself was stunning and your little touches like the bongos (or similar) when our man first see's the 'droid on stage, that was excellent. Very skilled, fluid and fluent!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Best regards,

You know, Michael, I absolutely LOVE GOS. The thing that really is amazing is how good it sounds even when compared to many newer libraries. I hope GOS2 is on its way soon for ARIA. I don't have Gigasampler, so I have to import them into K2. The process USUALLY works out ok, but there are some that don't carry over well at all.

Thanks! Yeah, the acting performances could have been better, but I am glad to have been able to do this at all, so I counting myself lucky. I got the clip on Sat morning and had it done early Sunday morning. All the while I had lots of other stuff I had to do - morning appointments (3 hours) , yard work (4 hours), Dinner guests, and taking care of my daughter and getting a wee nap in. All-in-all, I spent about 4-5 hours total doing this.

Hey SD CISCO, you know - I admit, even with a less than stellar acting performance, the movie is really paced well. That helped a lot when adding the score. I hope to keep on doing work with this guy (and others), because I seem to be getting better with practice, and it is getting more easy. Not sure if he will be continuing this particular story, but we'll see. I'd like to see what happens as well.

Thanks Randy! These kinds of scores are just plain fun to do. I've never really done something with hurried paces or action, so this was new territory for me.

I thought it was GREAT.......Saw your last entries also and
really thought you have a talent for putting music and atmospheric
