    Garritan Steinway and Notion

I took advantage of the $99 crossgrade and got Notion 3 - some of the ideas behind it and principles it uses are quite intriguing, so it took the place of my yearly Finale upgrade <chuckle>

I used the performance tool NTempo, which allows for control of the tempo by tapping it on the keyboard (PC or MIDI)

Here for your enjoyment, the first Prélude for Piano by Roger-Ducasse

    Enjoy,

    Hi giwro.

Just listened to your effort on Notion's site.

Very good job: both the performance and the choice for the piece.

Did you performed it live or entered the score then tweakened it by NTempo?

    Have a nice day

Actually, it was imported from a MusicXML file then tweaked by NTempo

    Glad you liked it!

Nice short and witty piano piece- dig the chord hits, very majestic. Volume seems too soft.

An interesting piece, Jonathan. For some reason, it
made me think of Saint-Saëns, brief as it is.

    Nicely done on the rendering!

    My best,

I agree, the volume is too soft, and the dynamic changes may be just a bit too large (velocity is always a tricky thing when importing from another source), but for the rest it's a nice piece. The tempo feels natural, and the slow down at the end is perfect.

It did not make me think of Saint-Saens though. Debussy is much closer, but this work sounds more modern: it vaguely resembled Cesar Franck, but in a more German way, if that makes any sense.

    Thanks for sharing!
