    Vienna Solo Strings

I've owned libs with bigger string-sections for many years, but really enjoy being able to write for smaller groups, thanks to VSL!
    :-)

The link below is a string-quartet with steamtrain and some Appassionata here and there...

Any of the new stuff eg Cinematic/LASS have good (better) solo strings?

    Thank you, Jef!

Listening to the music on your webpage right now - very nice!

Amazing! Great composition and wise use of the articulations.
The steamtrain sound is on one side funny, and on the other very emotional.
    At 00:27 is touching, thrilling.
    ciao!

    Cool Re: Vienna Solo Strings

Your composition is well designed, to make best use of the sounds. (e.g. staccatos and pizzicatos, marcatos etc.). Well done!

Very nice effect. But in the beginning, when they try to sound as real strings...hummm...the weakness come out.

Sampled solo strings never work fine in cantabile or espressivo, and also vienna has a not totally believable legato (quite better the VSL chamber or sessions string legato).

The only flexible and effective solo string I ever had are "sample-morphing" Stradivari Violin and Gofriller Cello. They had still big space for improvement (of a slightly acid sound) but a unique realism in phrases and expression.

Such a pity the development has been abandoned by Garritan...I hope Giorgio T. (the owner of the technology) and Peter S. in the new company "Samplemodeling" will come back to it as soon as possible.

I'm building a site of my own for the first time, so it's been gone for a while...
Anyway it's up now, and if it happens to be temporary down again, you can have a listen on my brand new blog:

    Hi guys,

LASS's First Chair solo strings are very expressive and 100% real-time controllable. You can hear the first chair violas (for example) here: http://audiobro.com/audio/LASS_Violas_ImprovA.mp3

They include legato, portamento and glissando with 100% real-time control of the portamento and glissando speeds.

    More demos here: http://audiobro.com/html/demos.html

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Andrew K

    Hi Hakan,

Nice music. Very spacey and contemplative.
