    Cubase 5 and NI versions

    Help!

I just bought Cubase 5 and started a new project to test it out.

I loaded JaBB and 5 instruments.

As usual, I assigned (in the Kontakt player) each instrument to different channels, expecting to have a VST fader in Cubase for each of these instruments...

But no... only 1 fader for the entire VST instrument and can only use channels 1-2 in Kontakt. Anyone have any ideas on how to see all 8 faders in Cubase 5? This has never been a problem with previous versions of Cubase. Usually, after loading GPO for example, 8 faders are automatically set up in the mixer - as KPIPO - each for each of the 8 slots in the Kontakt player for Garritan.

THanks guys for any help on this puzzle.

You've not said what you upgraded from but I have both CB4 and CB5 running here and there's only 1 channel showing on CB4.

There might be a setting somewhere that controls this but I can't find it. would be nice to have that.

Are you using KP2 and KP3 or the old Garritan set up?

I upgraded from Cubase SX3 but it was a clean install (since I just installed Windows 7) on a new hard drive.

I use the original Garritan set up for GPO and the KP player that came with JaBB.

The problem occurs also in Kompakt player too when I use other libraries. It seems odd that I have to load a separate instance of the VST instrument for every single instrument I want (when in the past, I could use 8 instrument in each VST instrument).

    How is yours set up?

CRACKED IT - By chance rather than skill.

    1) Open " Devices" >>"VST Instruments " (F11)

    2) load "Kontakt 2 (or 3)"

    3) Once its loaded here you will see 5 little icons to the left, starting with a
snowflake on the left. The right hand one is like a box on its side with an arrow pointing to the right. left click on this icon and you can activate the outputs by ticking on the list. This puts those channels ticked on to your list and sliders appear in the mixer.

    4) I've tried it and it works (although the sliders in Kontakt dont follow the sliders in CB5

Great stuff! I am at work at the moment but can't wait to get home and try it.

I cannot see the interface at the moment but I wondered: Where are these little icons located? (the snowflake etc) Cubase or the KP player?

Ah ok! That's new to CB I think. Funny, I had my VST instrument panel open all night and was staring at, hovering over (I thought) every icon to see the tooltip!

I shall try this when I get home. Thanks so much for your help!

You are a genius! The smallest possible icon hides there and you found it!

Well done and thank you! I hope I can pass this on to another fellow Cubase user.

    Cheers,
