    VST acoustic drums recommendations?

    Hey, guys.

I have a really nice collection, Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums (LSAD), which is all I use GigaStudio for. While I enjoy Larry's work, GigaStudio has always been flaky and problematic and I'm really getting tired of having to deal with it. It was fine in its day, but between GPO and VST instruments in general, it's time for me to retire it.

I was wondering if any of you had recommendations for a VST library of acoustic drum kits. I typically use them for rock & pop stuff, and while options are always nice, I tend to find a kit I like and use it consistently. For rock I write pretty aggressive drum parts (if you're familiar with Kieth Moon of the Who, Tre Cool of Greenday and the likes, you'll get the idea) and like rifle shot snares and cannons for toms. For pop, I simply don't hit them as hard or as often.

While Larry Seyer now has some VST versions, they use GVI technology and I'm staying as far away from Tascam / GigaStudio as humanly possible.

So, anyone have some good rock kits that they can recommend so that I can shoot GigaStudio in the head and bury the DVDs out in the woods somewhere?

    Thanks!

Have you looked at Ocean Way Drums? I have been really impressed with their detail. In fact esoundz is running a group buy ($99) that contains 12 OWD kits.

Thanks for the info. I noticed this:
Sonic Reality’s Infinite Player plug-in powered by Kontakt

I guess I should add that I'd prefer someone who uses iLok for their copy protection. I'm currently a little stressed wondering how many deauthorize / reauthorize hassles I'm going to have moving everything to a new box, and the iLok eliminates that particular worry.

And while $99 is good on a limited version, they're also rather proud of their full products.

I totally get what you are saying about preferring iLok.

Steven Slate drums completely rock. It has expansion packs for metal, pop, rock, etc. that keep growing. They are protected with iLok. You can get the platinum version right now from Sweetwater for $249, a killer deal if you ask me.

    Hey, Kevin.

Is their iLok support recent? I was just at the Slate website and couldn't find anything on their copy protection other than a lot of people in the forums saying they hoped he didn't go to iLok. Am I missing something?
