OT: Two little things im liking, maybe you too

Hi guys. Just want to share with you two little things that helped in my work at computer, and maybe can help you.
First thing is a little program i discovered some days ago, F. Lux. Basicly, it adjust the tone of your screen according to the hour of the day, so your eyes end the day in better shape. You can read a review of it here:
    http://appaholic.co.uk/2009/08/03/fl...ower-of-light/
    and download it here http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/
It´s available for Win,Mac&Linux for free.

The second thing that really im enjoying is a Tablet Pen. Im not a graphic designer, just acquire it for some little drawings for my classroom. But soon i found how easy is use it in a DAW. You need to draw CC or automation envelopes with the mouse...? It´s not the most quick&accurate thing. Try the same with a Tablet Pen, so easy! I have a cheap Genius 8x6 mousepen, that works great, but i guess that with any wacom or similar you will improve in the same way.

Well, just two things i liked, and maybe some of you could too.

    Best Regards.

Thanks for the links! I will be interested in trying out F. Lux. I do have a habit of browsing the web late at night right before bed; it could help a lot.

I also got one of those little tablet things for Christmas and hadn't even thought about using it to draw CC data... good idea

I use a Wacom Bamboo tablet for come cc work. Great and easy. ANybody tried to use a Contour Shuttle Pro v2? Great in some programs (esp. Vegas PRo video and SoundForge) but mine stutters in SONAR.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

Hi Tom. "CC" means "Continuous Controller", and it refers to the midi controllers for volume, expression, etc that you can draw over the Piano-Roll and/or in the track view of most music software, like Sonar, Cubase, Logic, etc.

I remember to have some problems with cakewalk and an old trackball, the horizontal scrolling made hang the program, but that was with a very old version. Dont know if it is picky still with mouses.

Thanks for the info. I use my computer sometimes late at night and usually adjust the brightness and contrast levels lower, especially if there is no background lighting. Having recently been to a sleep clinic, I was also advised that bright lit computer screens can interfere with sleep. This application makes sense and is easy to use.
    Wider is better.

Yes thats very true. Rather than go to sleep clinic I just decided to switch off my PC screen when in bed at night and now I am sleeping fine again.
