    Night Moods revisited

    Night Moods - Live

Last fall I wrote a piece to be performed through the auspices of the Cleveland Composers Guild of which I am a member. The piece was played this past December by members of the Cleveland Orchestra (well not all were members - The 2 violinists and the Flute are members of the Cleveland Orchestra.) The performers are:

    Violins: Takako Masame, Sae Shiragami
    Viola: Lisa Boyko
    Cello: Linda Atherton
    Flute: Mary Kay Fink
    Piano: Nicholas Underhill

The piece is in 5 sections. It represents the stages of sleep to dream to restlessness and finally back to quiet sleep. I apologize for the sound, but when you take an 87 meg wave and squeeze it into an 11 meg mp3, you lose something.

It was great to here it played live by some fantastic musicians.

    Best Regards,

P.S. for those that want to hear the GPO file it is here:

    Re: Night Moods revisited

What life you have in this piece. This performance really (and I mean really) shows off your musical style. I am amazed at the quality of the composition and most certainly of the high caliber of musicians you were able to get to perform this piece. Speechless is not enough to describe my feelings in hearing this live version. It brings out an entirely different and wonderful view of the piece that I heard as you were developing it last fall.

Thanks for the listen. And congratulations on a great performance. I wish I could have heard it in the live performance.

I am just now going to bed, and this was a very nice listen!
Personally (just me) I only like the first piece.
The others are just too confusing for my taste...
I love how you ended it though.

    Nice players too!

Well, I am glad you enjoyed the first part. The interluding parts are the restless parts of sleep. It does return to the quiet of night.

    Thanks for the listen,
