The GPO doc says "Sometimes in section string parts it may even be advisable to avoid using CC#64 and just overlap the notes to best
effect. ... Experimentation is the key."
Since Sibelius automatically turns on legato for slurs/phrase marks, and since I am getting some very unrealistic section string legatos, I wonder if I'm running into this "sometimes" situation. Experimentation is a bit tricky since this is being done for me. Does anybody know what is behind that statement?
Hi, Pat - That quote from the manual is referring to using GPO in a sequencer program where notes lengths can easily be managed. As usual - it's still quite mysterious to me how notation users manage to get the great results some of them do.
