Re: Are there any "playable" piano samples?

I have been playing around with a number of piano samples now, strictly for the purposes of creating a solo piano classical version of Book 2 of Bach's WTC.

I've listened extensively to a number of samples, and the BLACK GRAND still comes out on top re the standard of "convincing recorded sound" when coupled with careful reverb. Ahead, I think, of the much-esteemed EWQL Steinway and the PMI BOS, which are probably a close second.

But that's not a particularly "playable" sample. Garritan Steinway and the PMI bos (Wet/Sustain sample) probably much more convincing as a playable instrument, and so are many others, for that matter, if you have enough power of course... because latency is hugely important in playability obviously.

Very nice indeed! You are using your own sympathetic resonance algorithms - yes?

The only possible deficiency that I noticed was that sometimes, softly played notes sounded too bright.
