Ah...'tis a Dull Day on the Forum

There once was a Garritan Forum
Where ideas and thoughts were the norum.
    But it wasn't today,
    For we all stayed away.
(Hope this ode doesn't breach the decorum!)
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

Sort of weird day today. Almost all the forums I check were quiet.

Well, I stayed away today because I spent a long time undergoing a very thorough eye exam, net result of which will be a new pair of specs. Other than that, I was informed that my eyes are in quite good condition for my age, at least as good as someone 15 years younger. Oddball eyes, but no problems with macular degeneration, retinopathy, glaucoma, or cataracts, which agrees with my experience, and contradicts a previous exam in which I was expected to need cataract surgery by last summer!

Chip, I'd say it's been more than just a dull Day on the Forum - it hasn't been the bustling hub it used to be for some time. I'd say it's been a dull Year.

Perhaps too many threads veering into political differences, perhaps too many instances of unpleasant posts on some threads, even some that seemed to be attacking and bent on driving people away. The general unease we all share about the state of the world, from our various and contradicting view points - Maybe those are part of the equation that adds up to a less active group than we used to be?

It has been dull because Gary Garritan has not been able to be with us here.

Gary and his wife are certainly going through some very trying times right now, and we need to keep our chin up and keep posting answers to new questions.

After the release of a few libraries and the excitement that follows, this place will be back to it's usual flair.

A "hip hip horray" to the Garritans!!!

Hi, Dan - You are of course right, Gary's absence is a also a contributor to our sluggishness. I like what you suggest, that we all jump in and be as active as our schedules allow - Ask questions, Answer questions, bring up interesting tidbits - Tell some jokes!

The current Orchestration Challenge is a good way to get more involved - hint hint---current thread is up with the details.

It is indeed dull without Gary, I echo that "hip hip horray" to the Garritans!

I agree! Please add my name to the "Hip Hip Hooray for the Garritans!" list!
I know he and his wife are in our thoughts and prayers and indeed things will brighten soon. It was just such a blah day - rainy here and chilly, no action on the forums...I just had to comment. Hope I didn't stir up trouble!

Drat - I looked at the Orchestration Challenge yesterday and now I can't find it. In fact I seem to have lost everything that was in the General Discussion forum. Can someone direct me to where I can find it again?
