    JABB3 - BigBand Playing

That sounds and settings I use for a standard big band arrangement (5sax, 4trp, 4trbn, guitar, piano bass and drums) in Sibelius, Cubase, etc.
The first problem is that they are 17 instruments and there are only 16 channels available. Can I create multiple instances of Aria Player?
I tried to load at least 16 instruments and many of them are not heard in the tutti. (I put the maximum polyphony, and my audio hardware has a buffer of 4096 samples.

    Windows 7 - Pentium D 945 - 3gb Ram - HD500gb / 250gb 7200 rpm - Echo Mia.

I've had two Aria and a Kontakt KP3 all running with GPO4 at the same time. The two ARIAS running GPO and the KP3 running the JABB 2 piano. No problems here

You'll need to have multiple VST instances of ARIA in your host program to access more than 16 channels. Both Cubase and Sibelius should have this ability.

I usually create separate instances in Cubase to separate the types of instruments (trumpets in one, other horns in one, saxes in another). I am sure its more of a memory hog but it makes it easier to change instrument information since I know the instruments are grouped together in the same instances.

So yes you can create more than one instance in Cubase to use 17 instruments or more.
