    Native Instruments Service Center Problem

I was so happy I was ready to install Tonehammer's new emotional piano when I ran into a problem with NI's Service Center.

When I try to log in with service center (version 2.2.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3),
after the scanning of my instruments I get an error message in red:
Server communication error: HTTP/1.0.400 invalid portnumber.

I never experienced this before, what can I do to solve this?
Anyone had this problem in the past?

I also posted this to NI Forum and Support, but maybe there is anyone here who can help me?

I had a similar problem, and got this response from tech support. It may work for you. Don't know if you are on a Mac though??

In order to fix this issue, you need to remove and reinstall the Service Center.
    Please use these instructions:

    1) Remove the Service Center

    - Delete the Service Center folder from Macintosh HD/Applications (unless
    otherwise specified at installation time)

    - Delete the files ServiceCenter.plist (if present) and com.native-
    instruments.ServiceCenter.plist from Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences

    - Delete the files com.native-instruments.Service Center.plist (if present) from
    Macintosh HD/~/Library/Preferences

    - Empty trash

    2) Download and install the latest version of Service Center from

    Thanks Rik,

I did all that but unfortunately the problem remains.
I get the same error message as in the image in post#1.
I can't do anything with service center after that, not even try to register a library offline.

Re: Native Instruments Service Center Problem

It's clearly a communications problem between your PC and the NI Website.

This might be caused by a corrupt installation and hopefully a reinstall will fix it, but if not it could be that your firewall or some other software is blocking communications either to the NI website ("www.native-instruments.com"), or any comms on port 443, which looks to be what NI are using as far as I can tell.

Looks like one user had this issue after having installed an ad blocker program called GlimmerBlocker:

Have you made any changes to your firewall or installed any such programs?

I just found the same solution...

    I had GlimmerBlocker installed.
    Deactivating GlimmerBlocker solved the problem.

Thank you all for the help, can finally try out that emotional piano from TH!
